Week 5, Day 1

It's the start of another week! My progress so far in this challenge has been a roller coaster. I started with not making progress towards my goal. Then I added in calorie counting and that seemed to make the difference. Then I hurt my foot, but I didn't let that slow me down and continued to make progress. Then I got sick and my weight dropped below my goal. Now that I am better my weight has crept back up replenishing my body of all the water weight I lost. So now starting week 5 of my challenge I am 115.6lbs (down from 120.6). I have lost exactly the 5 pounds I wanted to lose. I am hoping to keep my weight here or get close to 114 by the end of the week!

I worked out on the elliptical this morning and will be teaching my BOSU class tonight!

Week 4, Day 7

I woke up this morning weighing a half a pound more than the other day. I totally expected this since it was probably water weight from being sick. I am still below my pre-pregnancy weight though and completely excited!

What I love about this challenge: On days when you have little motivation to move. On days you feel like sitting on the couch and vegging out on cookies. On these kinds of days this challenge gets you to move. It gives you the motivation you wish you had. And once you finish exercising you have motivation to do the laundry, make dinner, clean the house, basically everything you wanted to accomplish (but didn't want to deal with before). I just finished my small exercise routine for the day and I feel completely energized!

Week 4, Day 6

As of 2 days ago I had 1.5lbs left to reach my pre-pregnancy weight goal. Then I ended up with what I think is/was the stomach flu and as of this morning surpassed my goal, getting near my ideal weight (1.5lbs from my ideal weight). While getting sick isn't a healthy way to lose weight, getting passed my goal weight made me realize that I would like to get down to my ideal weight so I am going to continue working hard to get there. I know my weight will probably go up a bit once my appetite is back, but I'm not worried about that because I am still counting calories and burning 3500 calories each week!

I practiced my BOSU routine today!

I didn't workout yesterday, but I did stick to my calorie counting and my weight went down! My foot was so sore last night so I am taking another day off from working out.

Week 4, Day 4

With the high calorie burn and sticking my my calorie counting (trying to consume 1300 calories a day) I have lost another pound! 1.5 lbs to go! When I started this challenge I wasn't interested in calorie counting at all, but focusing on my exercise goal gave me the motivation to do both. Sometimes you have to start with something you know you can accomplish and go from there.

My right foot is a bit sore today from the BOSU workout and I have my chiropractor appointment today so I am thinking of taking a day of rest from working out. I am hoping I can stay strong with my calorie count so my weight doesn't go back up!

If I change my mind and workout I will update the post. And this is also really exciting: A lady in my BOSU class wore a heart rate monitor during the workout to see how many calories she burned - over 800 calories! WOW

Week 4, Day 3

Worked out on the elliptical this morning and teaching BOSU tonight! I burned 685 calories on the elliptical and I am going to count my 500 calories for BOSU in here too. And more good news, I stuck to my calorie counting yesterday and back on track with my weight. Hoping to still lose another 2.5lbs.

Week 4, Day 2

Got on the elliptical this morning! And I am hoping to practice my BOSU routine tonight - if I do I will update my calorie burn. I was hungry last night and was up trying to get a few things done before I went to bed so I ended up snacking and didn't make very good choices. My weight went up a bit more. But I am back on track today and super motivated to get my weight back down. At least my weight didn't go back up to the start!!!

Great start to the week! I worked out on the elliptical for an hour and burned 700 calories and then I went through my full 50 minute BOSU routine with my husband burning 500 calories! And I've been counting my calorie intake today - so far so good - and I am motivated to keep up the good work.

Yesterday's diet worked! I was back down in weight. Yay! And I worked out on the elliptical for 35 minutes today. I also practiced my new BOSU routine (50 minutes), but didn't count that in my calories burned today. Week 4 starts tomorrow!

Week 3, Day 6

Another successful day of burning calories, but not successful at losing weight right now. I know I haven't been eating the right things so I can't act like I don't know why. Plus, I haven't been getting my 8 cups of water in like I wanted. So now I am trying to figure out a better eating plan. Breakfast is easy - I always have oatmeal with blueberries and sometimes walnuts. For lunch I just tried the Strawberry Banana Yoplait Frozen Smoothie Mix and had 2 pieces of toast! When I get hungry I'll have string cheese for a snack. And for dinner we're having Chili.

I worked out for an hour on the elliptical and burned 600 calories! I made it to 3500 calories this week! I wasn't sure I would make it, but I pushed myself to do it! Week 2, Day 6

I went to go workout at a different fitness club this morning and used a different elliptical. After 60 minutes of working really hard to the point where I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation comfortably- just as hard as normal if not more so, I only burned 285 calories! That machine has to be totally off on its calculation. I normally burn just over 600 calories in 60 minutes. So I am basing my workout on an average of 100 calories/10minutes. I worked out for 70 minutes total. Also, my foot is feeling really good! Yay!

My foot has still been bothering me, so today I went to see a chiropractor who used active release techniques to help resolve my injury. Right away I could walk normally without any pain. So of course I went straight to the elliptical, but I wasn't able to stay at the gym much longer so I didn't get a long workout in. We'll see if I am able to workout tomorrow; I was told I may need to take it easy.

Day 6

I was planning on working out on the elliptical and recumbent bike today, but my foot was still bothering me. Knowing that the elliptical would probably aggravate my injury, I decided to stay on the bike the entire time. It took about an hour and 45 minutes, but I burned over 500 calories. While the elliptical would have burned the calories much faster, the bike allowed me to workout without causing more harm. Remember to always put your health first. If you experience pain it is always better to stop than to work through it.

Day 5

Looks like I strained the arch of my right foot in my step class on Wednesday. I'll have to take a break from the step class and be selective with the activities I choose to do for a while so my arch can heal. Remember, if you start to battle a bit of an injury stop the activity that caused it and rest or change your exercise of choice to something that is safe for you to do. Today I used the recumbent bike, the arm cycle ergometer (basically a bike that uses your arms instead of your legs), and the elliptical. The bike and arm cycle allowed me to still burn calories but give my foot a rest!
